Director's Note

A solid challenge without being overwhelming, The Audition is a great project for beginners. It contains two dialog scenes with standard coverage; however, because each scene features more than two characters, editors must think a bit harder about who should be on screen. As with the rest of YIKES!, the toughest part of editing “The Audition” is creating Ian’s “flash-forwards,” which are essentially mini-montages that disrupt the time and space of the audition scene. “The Audition” is also the perfect choice for those seeking material that’s diverse as well as comedic.
